When it comes to Internet in the White Mountains of Arizona, your options are limited to start with, but to make it even worse, those options come with limited access and speeds.
In this article, we’ll provide an overview of the available solutions, and which options might be best for you.
First the Solutions
- Cable One
- Cellular One
Here’s a quick look at each provider
Cable One, if they service your location, is by far the best service available on the Mountain, offering the fastest speeds and best prices.
Frontier is still using old technology, DSL, which means instead of the faster more durable cable, they’re still delivering service through phone lines. Which means they can service more locations, but their speeds don’t even compare to Cable One, and they’re over priced when you compare the two.
Cellular One is a cell phone service provider, however, they do offer home and business Internet. Their upload speeds are faster than Frontier, their prices are strait forward, no limited time pricing, and the data is unlimited.
Available Speeds and Cost
You’ll want to check to make sure they can service your location, they offer great service off the main highways and in most business parks and highly populated communities.
Speeds range from 50/3 to 200/10. Their costs range from $55 to $105 per month.
Like I mentioned before, because they’re using DSL technology they have a larger service area. If you need upload speed, you’re going to notice some serious slowness. Streaming video on the 6/1 plan is also going to be a little painful.
Speeds range from 6/1 to 24/1. Their costs range from $29.99 to 49.99 per month (if you’re enrolled in autopay).
Although it appears to be more expensive then Frontier, these are true costs which includes equipment. And they’re providing 2 to 3 times the upload speeds.
Speeds range from 6/2 to 15/5. Their costs rang from $40 to $140.
Things to Consider
When you’re looking for the right Internet service provider for your business, you’ll want to consider these important facts.
How many people will be connected to and using the services? The greater the number of people who’ll be using the connection, the more bandwidth you’ll need.
What are your performance needs? Will you be streaming video, downloading large files, using Internet-connected VoIP phones, again the greater the performance needs the more bandwidth you’ll need.
Ask plenty of questions and make sure you get the right plan. Some ISPs, like Cable One, has data caps, and under a data cap, if you exceed the data transfer limit during a billing cycle, they may automatically throttle back your speeds for the remainder of the cycle, or apply a surcharge to your bill.
